About the job
The Infectious Diseases Unit is recognised as a training centre B in infectious diseases for the FMH. This Unit is attached to the Department of Medicine and Specialties and operates mainly within the HFR Fribourg – Cantonal Hospital, caring for complex patients (isolation units for onco-haematological treatments, intensive care) and provides telephone consultation across the hospital’s 3 peripheral sites. It guarantees outpatient consultation (HIV, Hepatitis, general infectious diseases) for the population of Fribourg. Infectious diseases dedicate part of their activities to supervising the Infection Prevention and Control Unit.
To complete its team, the Infectious Diseases Unit of the HFR Fribourg – Cantonal Hospital is looking for a
Deputy Senior Consultant
Fixed-term contract of 12 to 18 months

Your mission
- Supervise two assistant doctors from the Department of Medicine undertaking their 6-month rotation in the infectious diseases unit
- Provide, under the supervision of a senior doctor, half a day of weekly outpatient consultation
- Participate in meetings with the Infection Prevention and Control Unit
- Participate in postgraduate training
- Cover the infectious diseases on-call duty under the supervision of a senior doctor
Your profile
- Federal medical diploma or equivalent
- Training in internal medicine including at least 2 years in a hospital setting
- Doctor aiming for the specialist title in infectious diseases
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in infectious diseases
- Cooperative spirit, commitment and availability
- Fluency in French
