About the job
Winemaker (80–100 %)
With passion in the vineyard. Together for great wines.
Winegrowers' Cooperative Döttingen – Switzerland
We are looking for you to professionally manage our vineyards, maintain the highest grape quality, and create characterful wines together.
Who we are
We are a small, unconventional cooperative – founded in 1912 – that moves between tradition and new beginnings. We vinify authentic wines with character. Our focus is on maximum quality and wines that are enjoyable and reflect our joy and passion.
Our cooperative has around 100 members. We cultivate some vineyard area ourselves and process grapes from producers. This results in wines from Pinot Noir, Malbec, Cabernet Dorsa, Riesling-Sylvaner, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Souvignier Gris.
We enjoy unorthodox paths, innovative ideas, and people who take responsibility. For this, we are looking for you to strengthen our team.
What to expect
You take care of the vines – from pruning to harvest – ensuring healthy grapes of high quality. You plan and coordinate plant protection, leaf care, and soil management. You organise and lead our seasonal workers and harvest helpers and pitch in yourself. You assess grape quality and determine the right harvest time together with the cellar master and managing director. You support cellar work as needed and are right in the middle during the harvest when the new vintage is created. You take care of machines and equipment and are responsible for maintenance. You work closely as a partner with our grape producers and cooperative members.
You are close to the vines, close to the product, and right in the middle of an operation where your work visibly makes a difference.
What you should bring
Training in viticulture, for example as a certified winemaker EFZ, or a comparable qualification. Solid practical experience in the vineyard and a good feel for vines and grapes. Enjoyment of independent work, planning, and organising. Experience in supervising employees or seasonal workers. Technical understanding and enjoyment of working with machines. A careful, reliable, and solution-oriented working style. Team spirit, initiative, and willingness to pitch in during busy periods.
What you get
A responsible key position in a traditional cooperative with future plans. Personal responsibility and scope for design. Short decision-making paths and direct collaboration with the managing director and cellar master. A varied working environment from the vineyard to the cellar. The opportunity to actively shape the quality of our grapes and wines. Fair employment conditions and a long-term perspective.
