About the job
Business Development Manager
Full-time 100%
You bring in projects and concepts – not PowerPoints. You don’t need a bespoke suit, an oak desk, or someone telling you who to call next. And you know that a good idea can achieve more than a hundred cold calls.
If this applies to you, please read on.
Who we are
The Software Brewery develops customised software solutions for companies – with a team of highly talented developers.
No clock-in and clock-out control, no overregulation. Just excellent work and a Just Fucking Do It mentality.
And we are growing – and need someone to ensure that projects don’t just keep up, but lead the way.
What you will do with us
- You ensure that new projects and ideas continuously come in. Not as a side job, not as a wishful goal – this is your job.
- You play the channels that work for us: growth with existing customers, public tenders, recommendations. And you find those we haven’t thought of yet.
- You also look inward: Where is untapped potential within us – in our own products, in our know-how, in existing customer relationships? You turn these into concepts and bring them to life together with the team.
- You work hand in hand with the team – on offers, pitches, and concepts. You understand enough about software to talk to our developers as equals.
- You work closely with the founders, without them having to manage you. You come not only with questions but with ideas, concepts, and projects.
- You use AI where it makes you faster.
Golden address book or creative growth ideas?
Honestly: We don’t know.
Maybe you have a network where every second coffee turns into a project. Maybe you have growth approaches we would never have thought of. Both are welcome.
What counts: In the end, signed contracts land on the table.
And growth for us doesn’t just mean "new customers". Sometimes the greatest potential is already in-house – in a product that can do more, in know-how we haven’t yet sold, in a customer where we’ve only scratched the surface.
You recognise such things, turn them into a concept, and activate it. We are not looking for a pure sales person, but someone who thinks growth in all directions.
What we are not looking for
- No salespeople in bespoke suits who "qualify" leads from an oak desk.
- No one who only presents concepts instead of implementing them.
- No one who shows us a CRM dashboard instead of a signed contract.
What you bring
- Experience in business development, sales or growth – ideally in software, IT, or agency environments.
- Proven successes: projects that wouldn’t have existed without you.
- Basic technical understanding. You don’t have to code, but you understand what we do and why the customer benefits.
- Experience with public tenders is a plus.
- Independence: Just as our developers bring their projects cleanly over the finish line, you bring in new ones. Without a nanny.
- Strong communication skills – and a feel for how we tick. You fit our DNA, not the other way around.
- Fluent German, good English. Knowledge of the Swiss market is a plus.
What we offer
- A team you enjoy working with: smart people, short paths, no politics – and an after-work beer together now and then.
- 5 weeks holiday and flexible home office – on Tuesdays and Thursdays we are all together in the office. We are a team, not a collection of basement dwellers.
- Real impact: What you bring in, you see grow – in the team, in revenue, in projects.
- Free choice of hardware: C64, Amiga or MacBook – you decide.
- Fewer meetings: as many as necessary, as few as possible. Instead of pointless meetings, better meaningful table football.
- Meritocracy: We hate rules. We love good work.
- Merch instead of dress code: hoodies, T-shirts & co. free – the bespoke suit can stay in the wardrobe.
- No oak desk: but a place right in the team – where projects are created.
- Free drinks: barista coffee, soft drinks and our own tap system.
- Team spirit: Ibiza hackathons, padel (lots of it), swimming in the Limmat, wakeboarding on Lake Zurich.
Our Code of Meme
We don’t have a mission statement with five glossy values that no one lives by. We have our Meme Glossary . Great freedom, great responsibility – in meme form.
The rule is simple: If you can’t identify with a meme – no chance. If you find yourself in all of them – let’s talk.
How to apply
Applications starting with "Dear Sir or Madam …" go straight to the bin.
Instead, tell us about a deal you landed – or a growth idea you would try with us first.
Just Fucking Do It.
