Job Description
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva benefits from an enriching multicultural dynamic to which it contributes through its influence within the framework of its mandates: teaching, research and its partnership with the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG).
The CANSEARCH research platform in paediatric oncology and haematology at the University of Geneva is tasked with developing research in paediatric oncology and haematology, primarily in the field of individualised therapy (personalised medicine) in paediatric oncology and haematology.
To complete the CANSEARCH research platform team, the Faculty of Medicine is seeking a:
Laboratory Technician 1 at 100%
Main Activities:
Develop and perform laboratory techniques necessary for the development of research projects, in accordance with procedures and under the supervision of a manager.
Participate in the development and validation of new analytical methods;
Prepare solutions and reagents for analyses;
Document and analyse laboratory data: Make observations, interpret results and discuss them with the manager and during group meetings; keep the laboratory notebook up to date.
Write protocols and standardised procedures.
Provide administrative support
Participate in training new assistants and interns in the group on experimental techniques;
Ensure compliance of techniques with good laboratory practices.
Manage laboratory equipment, laboratory supply stock and relationships with suppliers and the biostock.
Purchase and receipt of consumables;
Participate in managing relationships with suppliers and the biostock as well as monitoring laboratory supply orders;
Participate in laboratory management, equipment maintenance and handling follow-up.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Holder of a Federal VET Diploma (CFC) as laboratory technician / diploma of biomedical analysis technician or equivalent training (entry-level experience);
Experience in molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry;
Practical knowledge of cell culture;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Respect for deadlines and professional rigour;
Fluency in French and English, spoken and written. Mastery of any other national languages is a plus.

Excellent interpersonal skills, organised, autonomous, team spirit, and adaptability;
Positive attitude, curiosity and motivation to learn new techniques.
