What we offer you.
As part of the Career Starter programme in civil engineering, you have the opportunity to start your career in the railway world with a practical and modular path, undertaking two or three rotations of your choice. The first of these allows you, over five months, to acquire all the fundamental knowledge about the world of tracks and civil engineering works in the railway sector. During this programme, you will be part of a team composed of several participants. Over the months, you will have the opportunity to move through different teams to gain an in-depth understanding of the various activities in track maintenance and construction. Further information about the programme is available here .
What you can get moving.
- Upon your arrival at SBB, you will participate in various courses and workshops that will quickly provide you with a solid foundation of railway knowledge.
- You will soon collaborate on projects and independently take on specific tasks related to track projects.
- You support experienced colleagues and thus have the opportunity to contribute concretely to the progress of projects and learn from their experience.
- Project work in the track sector is a specialised and exciting field within construction and civil engineering works. A comprehensive introduction is guaranteed during the training.
- At the end of the programme, thanks to the overview gained, your network, and the knowledge obtained, you will lay the foundations for your future professional development.
What you bring with you.
- You are particularly interested in the railway world and the mobility of the future and demonstrate a clear motivation to face new challenges.
- You have a great capacity for learning and enjoy taking responsibility to achieve ambitious goals.
- Your analytical skills, team spirit, and positive attitude make you a valuable asset to the team.
- You hold a technical university degree (Bachelor/Master), preferably in civil engineering.
- The programme is also aimed at people with higher education in geomatics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architecture, or an equivalent qualification. The programme mainly takes place in German-speaking Switzerland and Romandy. For this reason, you have a good knowledge of German (min. B2 at entry). Knowledge of French is an advantage.
