Caritas Switzerland has been operating refugee centers for families, individuals, and unaccompanied minors (UAM) at currently five locations in the canton of Zurich since February 2025, on behalf of the cantonal social services (KSA). The transit center Sihlau in Adliswil offers space for around 140 refugees. The center is family-friendly and is located in a green environment close to the city center. We are looking for reinforcement for the care of refugees starting immediately until at least the end of 2025.

Your tasks

Care and support for up to 140 residents in 23 apartments, mainly families with children, as well as promoting a respectful and de-escalating interaction.
Support residents in coping with everyday life and preparing for an independent life.
Promote integration through guidance and assistance with social, cultural, and administrative issues.
Enforce and mediate the house rules, especially quiet hours, waste sorting, and good neighborly coexistence.
Assist with orientation in Swiss everyday life and important everyday rules.
Ensure cleanliness and order in living areas and common rooms.
Organize and accompany the entry and exit of clients, including preparation of living spaces.
Regular participation in morning, evening, and weekend shifts in the area of housekeeping and care – availability for 365 days a year according to deployment planning.

Our requirements

Completed training and experience in working with refugees, in social institutions, or in caregiving roles
Good German language skills in spoken and written form (at least B2/C1)
Intercultural competence and sensitivity in dealing with people from different backgrounds
Ability to communicate respectfully and de-escalating
Organizational talent and independent working style
High resilience and flexibility
Team spirit and reliability
Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and holidays
Knowledge about the living situation of refugees and asylum processes is an advantage
Empathy, patience, and understanding for the needs of clients

Start of work: 01.10.2025 or by arrangement.
The position is temporary until 31.12.2025.
