IOTA Group has been supporting its clients for over 40 years by providing specialised technical skills for complex international projects, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
As part of a major deep geothermal drilling project in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, IOTA is seeking several experienced drilling professionals to strengthen the teams involved in this campaign.
Job Description
We are looking for several experienced Drillers / Assistant Drillers to participate in a deep geothermal drilling campaign in Switzerland.
Operations will be carried out on a light drilling rig – Super Light Rig – equipped with an MPD (Managed Pressure Drilling) system.
The site will operate 24/7, with 12-hour shifts on a 3x3 rotation.
Technical training and project familiarisation of one to two weeks are planned in Switzerland in December 2026, before operational start-up scheduled for January 2027.
Depending on your level of experience and role, your main responsibilities will include:
- Performing and supervising daily drilling operations in accordance with the drilling programme.
- Participating in operations on the Rig Floor.
- Supervising and coordinating the operational team on the drilling floor, according to the level of responsibility.
- Participating in operations carried out with an MPD – Managed Pressure Drilling system.
- Ensuring the correct use, availability, and proper maintenance of drilling equipment.
- Guaranteeing safe working conditions on the Rig Floor and actively contributing to a strong safety culture.
- Complying with project procedures, Well Control requirements, and applicable HSE regulations.
- Identifying and reporting operational issues encountered during operations.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of drilling operation performance and efficiency.
Qualifications
We are seeking professionals with solid experience in onshore drilling operations.
Required experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Oil & Gas Onshore drilling operations or deep geothermal.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in continental Europe.
- Strong practical experience of operations on the Rig Floor.
- Good knowledge of drilling equipment and operations.
- Strong command of Well Control principles and practices.
- Experience in international and multicultural teams is appreciated.
Expected skills:
- Very good operational understanding of drilling equipment.
- Ability to work in a demanding drilling environment operating 24/7.
- Strict adherence to operational and HSE procedures.
- Strong awareness of safety, security, and environmental issues.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Advanced professional English is essential.
Required / expected certifications:
- IWCF Level 3
- OPITO H2S
- MIST or BOSIET
- Valid OEUK medical certificate
Previous experience in MPD – Managed Pressure Drilling will be a real advantage.
