We are looking for a Medical Head - Alps Cluster (Switzerland and Austria) to lead our medical department.
The position is hybrid, with the main office in Bulle, Switzerland.
Regular business travel across Switzerland and Austria is expected.
About the role

We are looking for a Medical Head Alps Cluster (covering Switzerland and Austria), to lead the medical strategy and execution across the cluster, ensuring scientific excellence, medical compliance, and strong cross‑functional collaboration.
As a member of the Alps Cluster Leadership Team, you will drive the Medical Affairs vision, oversee medical planning and execution across therapeutic areas, and build high‑performing medical teams that deliver meaningful impact for patients today and in the future.
What you’ll do
- Demonstrate enterprise leadership and drive the ALPS strategy across the organization
- Lead, inspire and develop the Alps Medical organization, fostering high performance, psychological safety, strong scientific leadership and executional excellence. Define and oversee the Medical Affairs strategy and medical planning across the cluster, aligned with Global objectives and patient needs.
- Ensure excellence in execution of Medical Affairs plans, including evidence generation, medical solutions and field medical activities.
- Act as a senior medical expert on UCB’s portfolio, providing scientific guidance and strategic input to cross‑functional and leadership teams.
- Champion medical compliance, governance and scientific integrity across all medical deliverables and activities.
- Drive medical excellence, capability building and continuous improvement across the cluster to maximize patient and business impact.
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
- Strong leadership experience.
- An advanced scientific or medical degree (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent).
- Extensive experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing senior medical teams in a complex, matrix environment.
- Strong strategic acumen with the ability to translate strategy into impactful execution.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- A strong commitment to ethics, compliance, scientific integrity and patient value.
- Demonstrates strong project leadership and management skills, including managing and delivering projects via a matrix organization.
- Excellent understanding of budget planning and management practices.
- Leads with and demonstrates strong emotional intelligence, integrity, business acumen, humility, respect, transparency, and executive presence.
- Fluent in English; German and/or French is a plus.
