About the job
Do you enjoy working close to operations and keeping an overview even in complex processes? Do you recognise where processes could run better and implement improvements pragmatically?
As an Operations Manager, you take on a central role at the Biel site between operations, logistics, administration, purchasing, and site management. You analyse production processes, coordinate daily business, and bring structure to processes that are intended to function efficiently and sustainably.
In doing so, you work in an environment where recycling and responsible resource management are part of daily business and contribute your experience where it has a concrete impact.
The position is deliberately designed as a development role: you will be gradually introduced to greater responsibility, with the clear goal of eventually taking on a leadership role within the company.
- Operational development of the site as well as bringing new impulses into processes, structures, and workflows
- Analysis and optimisation of production processes regarding efficiency, quality, and sustainability
- Planning and coordination of production processes to ensure smooth operations
- Close collaboration with site management, operations, logistics, administration, and purchasing
- Taking responsibility in cross-departmental projects within the group
- Support in deputising for central functions (e.g. site management, purchasing, administration)
- Participation in the budgeting process and investment planning
- Ensuring and further developing occupational safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Accompanying internal and external audits as well as coordination with authorities
- Supporting SIBE and hazardous goods coordination in organisational and operational matters
- Completed technical basic training
- Experience in customer and supplier support is an advantage
- Further training in leadership, process management, or quality management is an advantage
- Professional experience in a manufacturing or logistics-related environment, ideally in the recycling industry
- Initial leadership experience or interest in developing into a leadership role
- Initiative and motivation for further development
- Knowledge in managing operational processes and/or handling key figures
- Organisational talent and a good sense for processes and people
- Strong communication skills, team orientation, and a hands-on mentality
- Very good German skills in spoken and written form; French is a plus
- With your job, you make an active contribution to environmental protection and resource conservation
- Lots of freedom, independence, and responsibility in your tasks
- Stability and a secure workplace
- Flat hierarchies and uncomplicated decision-making processes
- Family-like corporate culture: with us, you are not just a number
- At least 25 days holiday / 30 days from the 11th year of service or from the age of 50
- Thommen Academy (internal training and development opportunities for our employees)
- Good social benefits (above-average continued salary payment in case of accident and illness, pension fund without loss risk)
