Business Analyst
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a central role in shaping data-driven decision-making at VAT bytranslating business needs into clear, actionable technical specifications. You will work closely with stakeholdersacross business and IT to ensure that analytics solutions are aligned with strategic goals and deliver measurablevalue.
You’ll be part of a global IT team spanning Malaysia, Switzerland, and Romania, collaborating across time zones and cultures. Your work will help ensure that every decision-maker at VAT has access to the right data and insights —at the right time and in the right format — to drive operational excellence and customer value.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor Business Analysts and continuously challenge and improve internal business analysisprocesses to ensure operational excellence and maximized value delivery for VAT
- Create and maintain Solution Design Documents (SDDs) to capture, refine, and translate businessrequirements into clear technical specifications for data and analytics solutions
- Consult with business stakeholders across domains (e.g. procurement, manufacturing, supply chain,finance, sales) to understand their needs, challenge initial requests, and propose fit-for-purposesolutions
- Collaborate with IT teams, including analytics engineers, data engineers, architects and functionalconsultants to ensure alignment between business needs and technical implementation
- Support the development process by providing initial data exports, performing manual test cases, andconducting first-level validation of analytics solutions before business handover
- Educate and support key users and end users on the design, value, and intended use of analyticssolutions, including clarifying limitations and preventing misinterpretation of data
- Contribute to agile delivery by participating in sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups as part of a cross-functional team
RequiredQualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or in a similar role within IT, data & analytics or business intelligence
- Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sharp attention to detail
- Proven experience in gathering, refining, and documenting business requirements and translating them into clear technical specifications
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders
- Comfortable working in cross-functional, multicultural teams
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency in working with data, whether through tools like Excel, scripting or programming languages, or other analytical platforms
- Solid understanding of core business processes (e.g. finance, supply chain, sales, manufacturing) and how they are supported by enterprise IT systems (e.g. ERP, CRM, analytics platforms)
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in SQL and Power BI, including experience with semantic models and report building
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) or other ERP systems and their impact on reporting and analytics
- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric or similar modern data platforms
- Exposure to visual communication standards such as IBCS
- Experience in conducting user trainings and supporting solution adoption including change management
- Hands-on experience working in an agile environment, applying Scrum methodology
- Microsoft Certification: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) or similar
- Ability to take ownership, even when the decision requires navigating ambiguity and uncertainty
- Experience leading and mentoring others through periods of change
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle management, including planning, execution, release, and post-delivery support
