In our team, we work interprofessionally, think in networks, and focus on the patients. We offer internship places in five different psychotherapeutic and psychosomatic wards, which accompany patients from adolescence to older age. We are looking for students who are passionate about supporting mentally ill people and their recovery process, enjoy teamwork, and are eager to contribute their knowledge and skills with us.
What you will move with us
- Together with the team, you accompany and support our patients in managing their life and everyday challenges throughout the entire treatment process.
- You live and support the milieu-therapeutic structures in the department.
- You co-design and implement the entire nursing process. Depending on your year of training, you take an active role in the primary caregiver work.
- You lead group therapeutic offers under supervision.
- You promote interdisciplinary collaboration and actively participate in team meetings.
- You perform various medical-technical tasks.

About us
Barmelweid is the leading specialist and rehabilitation clinic in Northwestern Switzerland and the largest psychosomatic clinic in Switzerland. The clinic cares for patients in 285 inpatient beds. The clinic specializes in geriatric, internal medicine, cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation, Long-Covid, psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy, psychocardiology, as well as sleep medicine.
At Barmelweid, Lean thinking and methods are central: All efforts focus on the patients. This includes standardized safety rounds, the patient board, and leveling the workload on the wards through flows. Nursing in the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy is complemented by the primary nursing method, and nursing in the Department of Internal Medicine by care managers.
Patients usually stay at Barmelweid for 2 to 6 weeks. This gives our nurses time to engage deeply with the patients. You can expect a lively operation with interprofessional work that calls on all the skills of a nurse.
Barmelweid employs over 700 staff. It is located at about 800 meters altitude on a clearing in the Aargau Jura and is embedded in a unique environment with a nature park.
