Doctor / Physician Medical Service 50%The Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The newly established Medical Service department ensures the medical-somatic primary care for incarcerated persons in all correctional institutions of the Canton of Zurich. As a central organisational unit, it guarantees a harmonised and high-quality healthcare provision according to the equivalence principle and works closely with the Psychiatric-Psychological Service and the JuWe institutions.
The department operates as an outpatient medical institution and Spitex institution with the corresponding health police permit and ensures the billing of medical and nursing services according to the mandatory health insurance.
For medical care at the JVA Pöschwies site in Regensdorf, we are looking for a committed medical professional to ensure site-specific care.
This is your field of activity
- You are responsible for implementing medical guidelines at the Regensdorf site and ensure medical care for incarcerated persons according to the equivalence principle
- In your regular medical consultations, you diagnose and treat inmates and provide initial medical care in urgent situations
- You participate in case discussions and work closely with the medical site management as well as representatives of other professional groups, with clearly defined task distribution and interfaces
- You ensure the quality of medical care, promote compliance with medical standards, and implement preventive measures to maintain the health of incarcerated persons
- You prepare medical reports, record services, and document treatments according to legal requirements
What you bring with you
- You have completed your medical studies and ideally have specialist training in General Internal Medicine. Additional experience in psychiatry, addiction medicine, or emergency medicine is an advantage
- You have at least three years of professional experience at a recognised training institution in Switzerland
- You hold a valid medical practice licence as a doctor in the Canton of Zurich and have an impeccable reputation. You are also willing to work in shift duty (on-call)
- Negotiable German language skills are required for this position; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage
- Very good MS Office skills and willingness to familiarise yourself with new health information systems
- You possess high social competence in dealing with the specific clientele and experience in interprofessional collaboration
