Role:
On behalf of the client, we are looking for a Project Engineer in Structural Engineering to handle demanding building and civil engineering projects. You will design structures, civil engineering works, excavation pits, and foundations from concept development to realisation, working with modern digital planning methods. Another focus is on the static and dynamic assessment of existing structures as well as planning of conversion and strengthening measures. The position is particularly suitable for ETH graduates and career starters who wish to develop professionally and gradually take on project responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Design of demanding buildings, civil engineering structures, excavation pits, and foundations from concept phase to realisation
Development and assessment of economical structural concepts in reinforced concrete, steel, and timber construction
Execution of static calculations and structural dimensioning according to relevant SIA standards
Static and dynamic verification of existing structures as well as assessment of their load-bearing capacity and serviceability
Planning of repair, strengthening, and conversion measures for existing structures
Handling geotechnical issues related to excavation pits, foundations, and soil-structure interactions
Preparation of calculation models, technical reports, static proofs, and project documentation
Use of modern digital planning methods and BIM processes in project work
Coordination of structural planning with architects, geotechnics, building services, and other disciplines
Support of execution planning and realisation as well as handling structural issues during the construction phase
Gradual assumption of design, coordination, and project management tasks with increasing professional experience
Qualifications:
Completed Master's degree in Civil Engineering ETH, preferably specialising in structural engineering
Solid theoretical knowledge in structural analysis, structural mechanics, design, and geotechnics
Expertise in construction methods reinforced concrete, steel, and timber
Interest in building construction, civil engineering structures, excavation pits, foundations, and existing structures
Knowledge or strong interest in BIM, digital planning, and numerical calculation methods
Initial practical experience in structural engineering through internships or career entry is an advantage
Good German language skills in spoken and written form
