About the job
Your new role
The City Library St.Gallen offers you a practical insight into the various services of a public library as a basis for training in library science. You will work largely in public service and advise our diverse clientele on media selection and our other services and offers.
In addition, you will work in the various media departments and magazines. You will also organize and conduct tours for school classes, during which topics such as research in the library catalog are deepened.
This position is for you if
- You are pursuing a degree in information science or a comparable education.
- You enjoy customer contact and teamwork and think and act in a service-oriented manner.
- You are willing to work regularly on Saturdays until 7:00 p.m.

Since 2015, the City Library St.Gallen has been operating the Hauptpost Library in St.Gallen and the Katharinen City Library together with the Cantonal Library St.Gallen. The offer for adults in the Hauptpost Library includes around 100,000 media as well as numerous work and reading places. With a wide range of events, the Hauptpost Library has become a popular place to stay and meet. At Katharinen, 40,000 media units and a wide range of events for children and young people are available. Together at both locations, the City Library serves up to 1,000 people daily.
