The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. We are looking for a committed employee for our team in the Vacuum Systems group. In this versatile position, you will take responsibility for the maintenance and optimisation of the vacuum systems of our proton accelerators HIPA and PROSCAN.

Your tasks

Maintenance, servicing, and repair work on vacuum components such as pumps, valves, or measurement systems
Ensuring the trouble-free operation of vacuum systems at large research facilities, including on-call duty
Conducting leak tests and leak detection on new components as well as existing systems
Independently handling an assigned area of responsibility.
Technical support for PSI employees, external stakeholders, and scientific personnel

Your profile

Completed vocational training as a polymechanic, plant and apparatus builder, or equivalent qualification
Preferably knowledge in vacuum technology
Technician TS (mechanical engineering) or equivalent know-how is an advantage
Knowledge in control technology is an advantage
Good German skills, English skills are an advantage
Motivation to engage with and further develop in this exciting field
