Is this helpful?
The laboratory of Prof. Britta Engelhardt at the renowned Theodor Kocher Institute, University of Bern, is seeking two talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researchers to join a pioneering research project within the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant "CNS-IP: CNS Immune Privilege", supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation.
This innovative and multidisciplinary project aims to unravel how the brain barriers orchestrate central nervous system (CNS) immune privilege, advancing our fundamental understanding of neuroimmunology.
Tasks
Leveraging newly developed brain barrier reporter mouse models, this project will:
• Construct a comprehensive brain barrier atlas at single-cell resolution.
• Investigate 3D anatomy and function of the brain barriers in both health and neuroinflammation
• Utilize cutting-edge imaging techniques including confocal and light sheet microscopy, two-photon imaging, and synchrotron radiation µCT.
• Bridge mouse and human biology by integrating 3D MRI data with histological analysis of human brain tissue.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with a keen interest in academic research and a strong foundation in relevant disciplines. Ideal applicants will possess:
• A PhD in the life sciences (e.g., neurobiology, immunology, biomedical sciences).
• A solid background in advanced microscopy and quantitative image analysis.
• Hands-on experience with experimental animal models.
• Knowledge in neuroimmunology and/or neuroscience.
• A collaborative spirit and the ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary research environment.
• Proven scientific writing and publishing experience.
• A strong commitment to building a career in brain barrier biology.
