The Office for Nature, Hunting and Fisheries is responsible, among other things, for the enforcement of federal and cantonal hunting legislation. This also includes the use of wild animals, the protection of habitats, communities, and endangered species.
We are looking for a
Gamekeeper (m/f/d)
for the Hunting Department starting January 1, 2026, or by agreement
Workload: 100%
Workplace: Supervision area 2 (Werdenberg/Rheintal) and from home
What to expect
- Enforcement of federal and cantonal hunting legislation
- Monitoring and protection of habitats and native wildlife
- Support, assistance, training, and control of hunting
- Handling of wildlife damage and advice on reducing wildlife damage
- Collaboration with partners from hunting, forestry, agriculture, and the public
- Representation of gamekeepers in neighboring supervision areas as well as on-call and weekend duties
- Participation and support in other tasks in wildlife management and nature conservation
What distinguishes you
- Completed vocational training (EFZ)
- Successfully passed hunting proficiency exam and several years of hunting practice
- Solid expertise and practical experience in hunting, wildlife management, nature conservation, and law
- Excellent communication skills and experience with enforcement tasks
- Willingness to work outside regular hours, especially at night and on weekends
- Physical fitness for fieldwork and mountainous terrain as well as a category B driving license
