Your area of responsibility

The role supports the finance department of USM where sound financial accounting, controlling understanding, and project implementation come together. It relieves the general ledger accounting, complements group controlling, and takes on and coordinates cross-departmental projects for the benefit of USM.

The division of tasks/responsibilities serves as a guideline. Depending on the project situation, closing rhythm, and priorities of USM, the weighting may vary temporarily.

30% Deputy and support for Group Controlling

Support with consolidation, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes
Creation and further development of management reports and evaluations
Gradual build-up of controlling know-how; the tasks are well learnable
Further development of internal control system (ICS)

50% General projects for the benefit of USM

Independent management and processing of selected projects with a finance reference or cross-departmental benefit
Project planning, structuring of work packages, scheduling and progress tracking
Follow-up of measures as well as ensuring documentation, handover, and sustainable implementation

20% Deputy and relief of general ledger accounting

Collaboration and deputising in recurring general ledger processes
Support with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensuring data quality, traceability, and clean documentation
Support with audits, internal controls, and process improvements

Your profile

Professional certificate in finance and accounting or completed comparable advanced training
Solid financial accounting knowledge (at least 5 years practical experience in financial accounting): understanding of closing processes, account reconciliations, Swiss Code of Obligations and Swiss GAAP FER, accruals, and financial data quality
Experience or strong interest in controlling, reporting, or budgeting
First experience with project work or project coordination, e.g. as project leader or sub-project leader
German spoken and written (at least level C2), English spoken and written (at least level B1)
Very good Excel skills; experience with ERP, consolidation, or BI tools is an advantage
Hands-on mentality: willingness not only to coordinate tasks but also to work operationally
Willingness to learn, curiosity, and enjoyment in working on new topics and acquiring specialised knowledge purposefully
