This is a challenging and interesting role as a legal counsel with a focus on legal and regulatory matters in relation to the provision of financial services (advisory and discretionary management) as well wealth planning solutions within the team Legal Investment Solutions & Distribution.
The team consists of highly qualified lawyers located at the Head Office in Zurich. The team is part of the General Counsel Wealth Management sub-division and provides legal advice to our stakeholders, including senior management from the Division Global Products & Solutions (GPS) of Bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd. Our work is truly international as we closely collaborate with other teams around the globe with the aim to provide tailor-made solutions with a hands-on approach. We are a dynamic, highly motivated team and pride ourselves in our excellent team spirit and supportive atmosphere.
This global role has a multijurisdictional scope, allows you to work on a wide variety of contractual and regulatory topics in relation to onshore and cross-border financial and wealth planning services. From the very beginning, you will handle your own portfolio of tasks. You therefore have a direct impact on Julius Baer’s legal affairs and business. You will also have a close working relationship with compliance, front office and front risk management.
YOUR CHALLENGE

Act as legal expert for financial and wealth planning services (including advisory and discretionary mandate services, as well as trust, pension and life insurance solutions)

Assess and review B2B documentation and agreements, particularly with external partners and providers, in relation to wealth planning services

Provide guidance to senior management and internal stakeholders on projects and initiatives

Monitor legal and regulatory developments in Switzerland and assess potential risks related to cross-border service provision (incl. civil liability and regulatory risks)

Support legal colleagues participating in internal committees by providing wealth planning expertise

Contribute to strategic projects and deliver ad-hoc legal support, offering efficient, client-oriented solutions related to FinSA and MiFID
YOUR PROFILE

Master’s degree in law (preferably from a Swiss University) and admission to the bar; additional qualifications such as an LL.M. are an asset

1-3 years of professional experience, preferably in a law firm, financial institution of consulting firm

Profound understanding of Swiss banking and contract law as well as the Swiss regulatory landscape

Analytical, structured and solution orientated with a proactive approach and capable of translating legal requirements into business-oriented solutions

A proactive and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and as a team-player in groups

Ability to perform under pressure and efficiently handle different competing tasks and priorities

Good communication skills and a natural capacity to convincingly share ideas

Excellent proficiency in English and German, knowledge of additional languages is considered an advantage
