Social Worker in Debt Counseling (60%)
Caritas Zurich is an independent Catholic aid organization. We advocate for families affected by poverty and disadvantaged people, regardless of nationality and worldview. In doing so, we make a significant contribution to their social integration in the canton of Zurich.
The Counseling Department supports low-income families in psychosocial and financial matters and offers telephone short consultations, debt counseling, social counseling for families, as well as mobile social counseling.
We are looking for a
Social Worker Debt Counseling (60%)
to join our debt counseling team starting February 1, 2026, or by arrangement.
Your tasks
As part of debt counseling, you make an important contribution to supporting over-indebted private households and self-employed persons in the canton of Zurich.
Your activities include:
- Advising and supporting families and individuals from the canton of Zurich in debt situations
- Advising and supporting self-employed persons from the canton of Zurich in debt situations
- Coaching third parties, such as professionals, parish employees, relatives, employers on debt-specific issues
- Contributing to the media and public relations work of Caritas Zurich, e.g., through expert contributions, case examples, or participation in events
Our requirements
You enjoy advising and supporting over-indebted people to regain an overview in their challenging life situations. You approach complex contexts with curiosity and composure. Thanks to your structured analysis, you can identify and demonstrate possible courses of action. You see small steps as success and as a prerequisite for sustainable change.
In addition, you bring the following:
- Degree in Social Work
- Several years of counseling experience in social work
- Experience in debt counseling and debt restructuring is an advantage
- Strong understanding of legal contexts and issues
- Humor and joy in diversity as well as flexible work organization
The workplace is Zurich.
Start of work: 01.02.2026 or by arrangement.
