What you'll be doing here
- You are a doctoral candidate in the ALDEX project, a joint SNF-BRIDGE project of ETH Zurich, Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) and Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Winterthur (ZHAW). The dissertation is closely supervised by BFH (team Prof. Dr. Christoph Denkel) and ETH Zurich (team Prof. Dr. Alexander Mathys).
- The aim of this dissertation is to develop a hybrid product base consisting of microalgae and milk protein for a new range of food structures and functionalities.
- Particular emphasis will be placed on the interaction between phases, interactions at interfaces and strategies for the compatibilization and structuring of two- or more phases.
- Occasionally, you will provide support in teaching in the form of lectures or practical courses.

- Excellent master's degree in food science, materials science, food process engineering or a related discipline
- Quickly adaptable to new areas of knowledge, combined with fast comprehension and a steep learning curve
- Passion, high level of self-motivation and a strong ability to think abstractly and creatively in order to tackle challenging research questions and profitably enter unknown areas of knowledge
- High level of analytical thinking, creativity and ability to think abstractly in order to develop new solutions
- Open-mindedness and an independent, structured and reliable way of working
- Very good English skills, ideally complemented by good German skills
