The Department of Women, Children and Adolescents is tasked with providing quality care tailored to the needs of women at every stage of their lives and addressing the health issues faced by newborns, children and adolescents from birth up to the age of 16. It works on developing cutting-edge services and centres of expertise in specialities.
The general paediatrics service manages the health issues of newborns, children and adolescents until the end of their growth and contributes to maintaining their health. They are referred to the Children’s Hospital for outpatient or inpatient care related to general paediatrics, oncology, vaccinology, infectious diseases as well as vulnerable populations. It also manages, in collaboration with specialist doctors from the paediatric specialities service, hospitalised patients requiring more specific care.
Attached to the General Paediatrics Service, the BBA1 Medicine Unit welcomes children from birth to the age of 2 years for conditions related to general paediatric medicine and paediatric emergencies.
Job Description
As a nurse in the B2 medicine unit, you autonomously and under medical delegation provide personalised and comprehensive nursing care in a curative, preventive and educational manner.
Responsive, with good stress and priority management, you are able to assess and analyse complex clinical situations and adapt to the context as well as to unforeseen events and activity peaks.
You are capable of facilitating the creation of the attachment bond between the child and their parents. Naturally kind and approachable, you possess in-depth knowledge of relational care, enabling you to support parenting, care for children, adolescents and their families, demonstrating listening skills, empathy, communication abilities and emotional management.
You ensure playful activities and your care is supported by the philosophy of developmental support care.
You will be required to work alternately between the care unit and the Infant Nutrition Centre (CNI) to participate in the coordination and preparation of bottles for paediatrics and thus supervise the work of ASA and ASSC staff.
Your collaborative working skills allow you to work hand in hand with the medical and nursing team. You ensure precise and rigorous information transmission within multidisciplinary teams.
Your learning abilities enable you to continuously progress in your practice.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent recognised qualification by the Swiss Red Cross.
You have a minimum of 2 years professional experience. Experience in paediatrics would be an asset.
Empathetic by nature, you practise non-judgemental communication, are attentive to others, proactive and possess a proven collaborative spirit in a multidisciplinary environment.
Motivated by paediatrics, you are patient and comforting in caring for children and supporting families.
You demonstrate discretion and diplomacy in your daily practice.
