Head of Projects & IT Department (P+I)

You want to contribute your IT know-how in a strategically oriented leadership role and shape the digital development of the Building Department (BD)? In this key position, you actively shape the IT landscape, project management standards, and collaboration within the Building Department. Together with your team, you offer solutions for the users. Your responsibilities

• You lead the Projects & IT Department (P+I) with its three divisions and the staff both professionally and personally, and continuously develop structures, processes, and collaboration together with the involved parties.
• You participate in canton-wide and BD-wide programmes, projects, and working groups and provide orientation in an environment with high change dynamics and complexity.
• You work closely with offices in the Building Department, the Office for IT (AFI), the State Chancellery, and other stakeholders and represent the Building Department in relevant committees.
• You keep the threads together in complex topics and decision-making processes and ensure a good balance between the diverse customer needs and an overarching structure.
• You shape the digital transformation, IT developments (e.g. IT architecture, IT security, the tool landscape), as well as topics around project management standards and project portfolio management.

• Strong networking and communication skills in a political environment as well as a solid service and consulting understanding in dealing with diverse stakeholders.
• The ability to promote personal responsibility and create clear decision-making spaces.
• Adaptability to change as well as a reliable, orientation-giving leadership style.
• Resilience and the ability to lead in the balance between stability and flexibility.
• Solid IT understanding combined with strategic thinking – ideally with a corresponding degree in computer science or business informatics.

About us

The Secretariat General (GS) is the hub between the six offices of the Building Department. In addition to central tasks in finance, IT, personnel, and communication, it is also responsible for statements on political initiatives, consultations, and coordination of legislative projects. Furthermore, the GS staff handle supervisory complaints and appeals against decisions of the offices and municipal resolutions. Another area of activity is the implementation of environmental protection within the administration and the coordination of environmental impact assessments for major construction projects.

The Projects and IT Department in the Secretariat General is responsible for IT and digitalisation in the Building Department and acts as a central interface to the Office for IT. We see ourselves as a service provider and support the offices of the Building Department with know-how and advice as well as in implementation and execution of their tasks.
