The Zurich Animal Hospital is a state-of-the-art, interdisciplinary university animal hospital with specialized teams in surgery, medicine, neurology, emergency and intensive care medicine, diagnostic imaging, oncology, ophthalmology, anesthesia, physiotherapy, reproduction, and dermatology as well as for zoo and exotic pets. Our goals are to provide excellent patient care and to support and promote those interested in teaching and research. The small animal surgery team offers specialized care in soft tissue and orthopedics and works closely with other disciplines to achieve the best possible outcome for all our patients. Our team consists of senior physicians, residents, interns, an engineer, and a dedicated nursing team. Together we master diverse and demanding clinical cases and care for patients as well as owners from the first consultation to the final follow-up. We are looking to strengthen and expand our team by offering the opportunity for a 12-14 month limited surgical internship. Start date: approx. 01.07.2026 Activities and tasks: - Independent patient care and communication with owners under the supervision of experienced and senior physicians - Coverage of inpatient patient care service on weekends (approx. 1 weekend/month) - Optional participation in emergency surgeries during the night or on weekends Your profile: You bring a high level of motivation and enthusiasm for working in the clinic and are able to work as an integral part of our team. In addition, you have strong communication skills that facilitate dealing with pet owners. Good command of written and spoken German is a prerequisite. Your profile can be complemented by initial experience, e.g., in a rotating internship and with an interest in clinical research. However, this is not a requirement.
