Project Background
The Educational Software Engineering group develops and operates central digital solutions for teaching and study, including the open-source Safe Exam Browser ecosystem (SEB), the EduApp, as well as Moodle extensions for digital examinations and the Digital Campus. As part of a succession arrangement, we are looking for an experienced leader with a solid technical background who successfully connects people, processes, and technologies.
Job Description
- Leading and developing a team of eight employees and external specialists with regular support from student assistants
- Coordinating software projects and portfolio management
- Responsibility for the further development of various teaching-supporting applications (SEB, EduApp, Moodle plugins, among others)
- You are responsible for critical security components in the SEB and SEB server area and continuously develop them further
- You demonstrate great initiative and personal responsibility in performing your tasks, contribute your seniority, and enjoy many opportunities for creative freedom with us
Profile
- University of applied sciences or university degree in computer science or another STEM field
- Leadership experience in a software engineering environment
- Practical experience in C and C++ programming (system, kernel driver programming) in the Windows environment
- Very good knowledge in the IT security field, especially application security and hardening of applications as well as code signing and certificate chains
- Experience in reverse engineering with the associated tools
- Practical experience in the use of AI-supported development tools: working with agents, project-specific context, and automated comprehensive review processes
- Ability to generate and maintain documentation using AI support. Experience in automatically generating test code and evaluations and checking their meaningfulness
- Knowledge in test automation
- Good knowledge of web technologies JavaScript, Vue.js, Progressive Web Apps, HTML
- Basic knowledge in the area of learning management systems
- Practical experience in open source projects
- Experience in agile software development and an agile mindset
- Quick comprehension to navigate technically complex problems and develop solution proposals up to prototypes
- Confident communication in German and English and skilled in dealing with university stakeholders at all levels, including senior management such as professors, department heads, and executive staff
