The Thurgau forest is a habitat for flora and fauna, a recreational area for people, and an important wood producer. It is a challenging and exciting task of the Forestry Office to care for and preserve this forest in its diversity and multifunctionality together with the forest owners and other stakeholders.
Due to the retirement of the current position holder, the Forestry Office is looking for a District Forester as of January 1, 2026, or by agreement
As a district forester, you will lead Forestry District 1 and be responsible for implementing forest legislation from the federal and cantonal levels. This includes advising forest owners, forestry district corporations, and other stakeholders on all forestry matters. Your area of responsibility also includes the professional leadership of the district foresters as well as position-related public relations work.
Ideally, you have a degree as a forest engineer ETH/FH or environmental scientist ETH with a specialization in "Forest and Landscape Management" and several years of professional experience. You have a flair for implementing forest law issues. You are a socially competent, communicative, and networked-thinking personality. Organizational skills and persuasiveness are among your strengths, as well as a high degree of independence and personal responsibility.
