Our Corporate Finance Department for our office in Wallisellen is looking for a
Global Head of Customs (f/m/d) (100%)
This position is hybrid, with 4 mandatory days at our office in Wallisellen.
Your Responsibilities:
- Own and continuously improve Triumph's global customs governance framework, policies, procedures and controls, ensuring that the Group's operating model and strategic projects are aligned with applicable customs and trade requirements
- Develop Customs as a business service function, supporting commercial and supply-chain decisions with practical customs input while protecting compliance, duty efficiency and lead times
- Manage and further optimize highly automated customs clearance processes in SAP GTS, including broker interfaces, master-data quality, tariff classification, customs value, origin/preference handling and bonded warehouse movements
- Provide customs leadership for the French and Austrian bonded warehouse flows, including stock ownership, transit/import/export processes, warehouse documentation, customs authorizations and controls
- Monitor changes in customs, trade, origin, export-control/sanctions and related legislation; assess the impact for Triumph and communicate it clearly to Finance, Tax, Operations, Logistics, IT and local management
- Work closely with Operations and warehouse teams in France, Austria and Asia, as well as Switzerland/HQ, to implement regulatory or process changes in working methods, IT systems, documentation, broker set-ups and controls
- Act as customs workstream lead in Group projects such as warehouse changes, ERP/SAP GTS changes, business restructurings, divestments/carve-outs and new cross-border flows, ensuring customs implications are considered early
- Lead and coordinate external customs audits, authority enquiries and voluntary disclosures, including audit strategy, documentation, defense position and follow-up remediation
- Optimize existing and develop new end-to-end customs processes in cooperation with IT, Operations, Tax and Finance, using SAP GTS, automation, data controls, FTAs and customs duty optimization opportunities where appropriate
- Own the global approach to customs classification, valuation, origin and preferential origin/FTA management, ensuring consistent documentation and defensible positions
- Manage relationships with external customs brokers, freight forwarders, advisors and customs authorities; define service expectations, KPIs and escalation paths
- Lead a small central customs team and provide functional guidance to operational customs teams in other countries, building customs capability across the Group
Your ideal profile:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in customs and trade compliance in a multinational environment, ideally with strong in-house operational exposure and/or advisory background
- Strong knowledge of EU and Swiss customs law, import/export procedures, customs warehouses/bonded warehouses, transit, classification, valuation, origin and preferential origin/FTA rules
- Experience with SAP GTS or comparable customs/ERP systems, automated clearance processes, customs broker interfaces and master-data governance is strongly preferred
- English is a ‘must have’. German and French are ‘nice to have’
- Experience in apparel, consumer goods, retail, logistics or another high-volume international supply-chain environment would be an advantage
- Strong project-management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional implementation topics across IT, Logistics, Finance, Tax and local operations
- Confident, pragmatic and convincing personality with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, local teams, external service providers and authorities.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work hands-on in a lean global team.
- Demonstrated ability to translate customs regulations, authority expectations and internal requirements into workable business processes and controls in the assigned geographies
- Comprehensive understanding of how customs and trade impact the supply chain, working capital, lead times, customer service, duty costs and compliance risk
- Genuine interest in import/export operations, bonded warehouse management, logistics and supply chain execution
- A continuous learner with strong attention to detail and a desire to understand the "why" behind processes, data flows and system set-ups
- Motivated by collaboration and comfortable working with people across countries, cultures and functions in a dynamic global environment
- Takes initiative, challenges existing processes constructively and brings practical improvement ideas from concept to implementation
- Able to combine a strategic view with hands-on execution; comfortable owning the topic end-to-end rather than staying only at policy level
