Head of Operations (m/f/d)
Location: Aesch, BL
Position
We are currently seeking a highly qualified and visionary individual to join our team as the Head of Operations. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for a wide range of strategic and operational tasks to ensure the success and growth of our organization.
The role lies at the intersection of Production, Economics, and Manufacturing Technology. The continuous challenge is to efficiently produce a diverse range of cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and diagnostic products while meeting the required quality and regulatory standards.
Tasks
- Develop and execute the long-term manufacturing strategy in line with corporate objectives and represent Operations in the Management Team, actively contributing to overall company strategy
- Ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective production by driving continuous improvement initiatives, digitalization, automation, and operational excellence programs
- Translate research projects into scalable industrial production by establishing robust processes and ensuring close collaboration with R&D, Quality, and other functions
- Lead and develop the Manufacturing organization, including workforce planning, talent development, succession management, and a strong SHE culture
- Manage strategic Make-or-Buy decisions and ensure operational continuity through effective collaboration with purchasing, maintenance, and technical services
- Provide oversight of engineering, technical infrastructure, and investment projects, prioritizing capital expenditures in line with operational and strategic needs
- Contribute as a senior stakeholder within the leadership structure, ensuring clarity, transparency, and execution focus across the Operations domain
Qualification
- Completed academical studies with scientific and/or engineering background in life sciences at Master’s level. Complementary education in business administration or leadership is advantageous
- Several years of experience in a senior manufacturing or operations leadership role within the life sciences industry
- Proven experience managing complex production environments involving multiple technologies, products, or regulatory frameworks
- Strong understanding of project management, industrial processes and investment or infrastructure-related topics
- Experience working in regulated environments, including GMP and certified quality systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 22716, 98/79/EU, MepV, 21 CFR Part 820, ICH Q7, HMG, EFfCI and Cosmetics Europe
- Ability to lead organizations through change while maintaining operational performance and strategic focus
- Strong business judgment, decision-making capability and confidence interacting with senior stakeholders
- Pragmatic leadership style, strong team orientation, and excellent communication skills in German and English
