Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for criminal and measures enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, and the detention and preparation of the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The Affoltern am Albis Prison (GFA) is one of the enforcement institutions of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialized in the closed enforcement of custodial sentences. The GFA offers space for about 60 incarcerated persons.
For the social services department, we are looking for a committed, team-oriented, and responsible individual starting February 2026 – for six months or one year.

Your tasks
- Support in the care of inmates within the given daily structures, taking into account legal and operational rules
- Independently conducting entry interviews and drafting enforcement plans
- Support in material assistance and contact mediation in the areas of work, housing, finances, and social assistance
- Preparation and review of applications for material and relationship leave and ensuring the leave process
- Administrative tasks such as general correspondence, file management, leave applications with program checks, applications for conditional releases with recommendations, and enforcement reports
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with prisons and external agencies such as the Psychiatric-Psychological Service (PPD), correctional service, authorities, courts, migration offices, and social welfare offices
- Participation in team meetings and projects
Your profile
- Ongoing or completed studies in social work or social pedagogy (FH/HF)
- Interest in criminal law topics as well as willingness to engage with people in difficult situations and with diverse social and cultural backgrounds
- Confident and communicative personality
- High mental and physical resilience
- Initial administrative experience and pronounced organizational skills
