About the job
Technical Support Staff (m/f/d)
80–100%, starting immediately or by arrangement, Widen AG (Zurich region)
What awaits you at Aliva
Aliva is a Swiss mechanical engineering company with a team of around 30 people, part of the international Normet Group with 1,800 employees. We develop and build machines for shotcrete, which are used worldwide, among other things, in tunnel construction and for securing excavation pits.
Our machines operate where downtime is costly: in tunnels, on construction sites, often far from Widen. To keep them running, someone is needed who knows the machine, finds the fault over the phone, and gives the service technician on site the crucial hint. Service is an area we are expanding in Widen – and technical support is its hub. For this, we are looking for you.
What you do
- You support customers and service technicians with technical questions about our rotor machines and their components: troubleshooting, diagnosis and solution – by phone, email or remote.
- You technically assess incoming service and repair cases, define the necessary work and prepare repairs, overhauls and conversions administratively and in the system.
- You systematically record enquiries, malfunctions and recurring problems and investigate their causes.
- You find the right spare part based on machine type, serial number, parts lists and drawings and support Customer Service with technically demanding enquiries.
- If necessary, you step in for Field Service or assembly.
Two things make this position special:
- You analyse recurring service cases and derive improvements – for product, spare parts, assembly, quality and service processes. Your insights go directly to Product Management and Engineering.
- You organise product training for service technicians, internal staff, dealers and customers – and partly conduct them yourself. Share your knowledge.
What matters to us
We are a small team. That’s why how we work together counts.
- We keep our promises. If something doesn’t work as planned, we address it early.
- We address things directly – openly and respectfully. Even with the boss.
- We think beyond our own area and keep other teams, service and our customers in focus.
- We decide independently where possible. Ask questions where necessary.
- We want to develop ourselves. We help each other with this – the drive comes from each individual.
What you get
- A role with impact: What you solve on the phone runs again in the tunnel the next day.
- A team that helps each other – and colleagues in assembly and engineering just two doors down.
- A supervisor who gives you clear and honest feedback and supports your development.
- Development opportunities that suit you – whether towards leadership, technical specialisation or, if you wish, also in an international environment.
And all this with attractive conditions: 40-hour week with annual working time, at least 25 days holiday, very good pension fund conditions, fully covered accident and daily sickness allowance insurance, free parking and discounts in the staff restaurant.
What you bring
- A technical basic education, for example as a polymechanic, construction machinery or agricultural machinery mechanic, or automation technician; further training as a technician HF is a plus.
- Several years of experience in service, maintenance or assembly of machines, including hydraulics and electrics. Ideally, you know construction machinery or shotcrete technology.
- Confident handling of technical drawings, parts lists and schematics as well as an ERP system.
- You explain technical contexts so that they are understood even over the phone – calmly, even if the customer is under pressure.
- Good German and English skills, spoken and written; you deal with customers, dealers and colleagues from across the group. Additional languages are an advantage.
What this position is not
Not a pure office job and not just ticket processing. Whoever sits here must understand the machine, occasionally get hands-on and trust colleagues in the field. And if you don’t like phrases like "That’s not my job" and "We’ve always done it this way," then you’re exactly right with us.
Sounds good?
Then we look forward to hearing from you. A CV and a few sentences explaining why this position suits you are enough. Would you like to get an impression beforehand or have a quick call? Liliane Farkas, +41 79 467 70 54, will be happy to take the time.
