Officer in charge of biodiversity and landscape quality

The Office for Agriculture and Geoinformation is a service of the Department of Public Economy and Social Affairs. It includes the four sections: agricultural measures, structural improvement, surveying, and the GIS competence center.
The agricultural measures section is responsible for implementing legislation relevant to agriculture, based on the agricultural policy of the Confederation.
In the area of surfaces/ecology, it handles work related to biodiversity and landscape quality, supports the further development of projects for landscape quality and connectivity, and acts as a contact person for inquiries from farms and external contractors.

For the surfaces/ecology sector in the agricultural measures section, we are looking for a motivated officer in charge of biodiversity and landscape quality (70%) starting April 1, 2026, or by agreement.
- Collaboration in the execution of direct payments to agriculture in the areas of biodiversity and landscape quality
- Providing information in case of inquiries from farms
- Data collection as well as administration of management contracts and direct payment accounts for farms and summer pastures
- Support of daily activities in the sector, including technical tasks such as the use of GIS (ArcGIS)
- Support in specialist training and accompaniment of external contractors
- Support in the development of internal processes in the areas of biodiversity and landscape quality, including their technical implementation
- Basic agricultural training with further specialist training (agrotechnician SUP) or training as a commercial employee AFC with experience in the agricultural sector or completed studies at a university of applied sciences in agronomy, environment, or similar fields
- Interest in the thematic areas of biodiversity, connectivity, and landscape quality in the context of agriculture
- Strong teamwork skills and communication abilities as well as user orientation
- Excellent computer skills, substantial affinity for technical tasks (e.g., GIS, data processing)
- Autonomy, precision, initiative, and organizational talent
- Reliability and high willingness to perform
- Proficiency in written and spoken German; knowledge of other cantonal languages is an advantage
