About the job

The patient catering at the University Children’s Hospital of Basel (UKBB) is responsible for providing meals to patients on the wards. Friendly service, individual care, and the well-being of children, adolescents, and their families are at the centre of attention. The following working hours are planned: 07:00 to 15:00 or 10:00 to 19:00, with shifts from Monday to Sunday.

Start date: 1 February 2027 or by arrangement

Your tasks

• Preparation and service of main meals
• Taking menu orders according to the individual wishes of patients and their accompanying persons in the room
• Inventory management, ordering and receipt of deliveries
• Washing dishes, cleaning the catering kitchen
• Ensuring a smooth shift (cross-departmental communication)

Your profile

• Federal certificate of competence in the catering sector / Federal professional certificate and/or many years of professional experience in catering
• German as mother tongue, good knowledge of another foreign language
• Good IT skills (e.g. e-mail correspondence, cash register management using Excel spreadsheets, as well as meal ordering with an ordering programme)
• Service orientation combined with the ability to empathetically respond to the needs of patients and their accompanying persons
• Enjoy working in a team
• Flexible availability, including weekends
