The Cantonal Tax Office is responsible for the enforcement of the provisions of federal, cantonal and municipal taxes. It ensures a complete registration of all taxpayers, professional and customer-oriented tax assessment, and uniform tax collection.
The main department Natural Persons is responsible for the uniform assessment of income and wealth taxes and the examination of the refund of withholding tax for around 340,000 natural persons as well as for the valuation of around 22,000 unlisted companies based in the canton of St. Gallen.
To complement our team (NP Plus), we are looking for you as of 1 September 2026 or by arrangement as

What to expect
- Assessment of demanding special cases in the area of income and wealth taxes of natural persons (outside the mass procedure)
- Tax material assessment of complex issues within the framework of the assessment procedure
- Case-specific execution of additional tax procedures
- Collaboration with other areas such as the main department Legal Entities, withholding tax, judicial authorities, social insurances, VAT etc.
- Handling of objections and preparation of statements to the Administrative Appeals Commission
- Provision of case-related tax law information
- Participation in specialist projects and further training as needed
What distinguishes you
- Bachelor's, Master's degree or a function-specific training in the financial sector (e.g. fiduciary with federal diploma, certified fiduciary expert, certified tax expert, SSK course II or III or higher education in business administration)
- Several years of professional experience in the field of taxes, fiduciary or accounting
- Decisiveness, resilience and ability to work in a team
- Independent, careful and analytical way of working
- Confident expression in spoken and written language
- Communication and negotiation skills
