Underground construction is one of the most traditional and at the same time most demanding disciplines of our client, the Frutiger Group . As part of a long-term planned succession and for the future-oriented development of the department, we are looking for an entrepreneurial-minded leader for our client to take the underground construction division into the next phase. You will take over a stable and efficient organisation with proven specialists and managers, while also receiving the scope to specifically further develop structures, competencies and resources.

Responsibilities

As Head of Underground Construction, you bear the overall entrepreneurial responsibility for your department. You understand leadership not primarily as the operational management of individual construction sites, but as the design of an efficient system.

You further develop the strategy, culture and organisation, create clear responsibilities, challenge and promote your experienced leadership team, and develop managers and young talents. At the same time, you ensure that the necessary personnel, financial and technical resources are available in good time. Furthermore, you keep an eye on the major projects and their risks, recognise problematic developments early and consistently lead your department using relevant financial and operational key figures.

A significant part of your role is the further development and expansion of the department. The Swiss infrastructure market offers exciting prospects and challenges in the coming years, and Frutiger wants to actively seize these. You monitor future major projects early, identify opportunities, develop the right strategies together with your team, and maintain sustainable relationships with clients, planners, joint venture partners and other market participants. Your ability to assess the market, projects, risks and opportunities entrepreneurially and to bring the right people together is crucial.

Profile

For this key position, we are seeking an experienced individual from underground or tunnel construction, ideally with a degree as a civil engineer at FH, ETH/University level, a certified master builder or a comparable qualification. You know construction execution from your own experience, have led complex and diverse projects and understand the particularities of the Swiss construction industry. Experience in leading larger, decentralised organisational units is desired. You think analytically and networked, can reduce complexity and make decisions. Even under pressure, you remain clear, consistent and reliable. At the same time, you are an approachable, honest and down-to-earth leader who convinces at management level and consciously maintains contact with the construction site and operational base.
