Job Description
We are looking for a motivated individual as a Technical Buyer starting 1 January 2027 or by agreement.
In this central role, you will ensure the procurement of raw materials, equipment, operating resources, products, and services required for the reliable operation of our sites in Switzerland.
Your main tasks:
- Recording and analysing the needs of various departments and identifying optimisation potentials.
- Developing specifications and tender documents in collaboration with technical experts and the purchasing department of the Veolia Group.
- Identifying, selecting, and managing suitable suppliers; conducting tenders, analysing offers, and negotiating contracts.
- Active market monitoring in the field of equipment and innovative technologies for waste treatment.
- Implementing company-wide procurement policies, purchasing guidelines, and framework agreements, taking into account the operational requirements of the sites.
- Creating and managing local contracts considering the technical, commercial, and financial objectives of the Veolia Group.
- Monitoring orders, delivery dates, budgets, and purchasing commitments as well as maintaining relevant data in the ERP system.
- Evaluating supplier performance, handling complaints and non-conformities, and initiating appropriate improvement measures.
- Creating purchasing key figures and implementing measures for cost optimisation.
- Contributing optimisation proposals, synergies, and best practices at the national level and supporting the improvement of internal processes.
- Ensuring compliance with Swiss environmental and legal requirements, especially USG, VeVA, and TVA.
The position includes regular travel to our sites in Switzerland as well as to suppliers in Switzerland and Europe.
Qualifications
- Completed technical or commercial basic training with further education in purchasing or a degree in business administration, supply chain management, or engineering.
- Several years of professional experience, at least five years, in a similar role in operational and/or strategic purchasing, ideally in an industrial, technical, or plant-intensive environment.
- Experience in the procurement of technical equipment and operating resources. Knowledge in waste treatment, recycling, environmental technology, energy, or cement production is an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of tender and contract management as well as strong negotiation skills.
- Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented working style with a strong cost and quality awareness.
- Confident use of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Knowledge of Swiss environmental regulations is an advantage.
- Fluent German with very good English skills, French is an advantage.
- Communicative, assertive, and team-oriented personality with a high degree of initiative.
