The Cantonal Police, with its approximately 4000 employees, takes responsibility for security in the canton. The Civil Protection Department, together with the Cantonal Command Organisation (KFO) service, is tasked with ensuring the basic supply of the population as well as the protection, rescue, and care of people and animals in extraordinary situations. It does this, among other things, as a competence centre in the field of risk management; it operates both a Civil Protection Risk Management and an Integrated Risk Management to maintain the operational capability of government and administration. The KFO is thus an important part of the cantonal security architecture.

Your area of responsibility:
- Support in managing the annual risk management processes; identification, analysis and evaluation of risks and monitoring of measures to reduce risks
- Maintenance and further development of the tools used for managing risk management
- Preparation of reports – content-wise, conceptually and design-wise – as well as various research and analysis activities
- Content-related and administrative preparation of meetings, workshops, etc.
- Exchange and correspondence with various stakeholders in the cantonal administration and partners in civil protection
- Support in related areas within the Civil Protection Department
Your profile:
- Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in humanities and social sciences (e.g. political science, international relations, history, law, economics), natural sciences or computer science.
- Interest in the field of risk management (initial knowledge advantageous)
- Enjoyment of academic work (qualitative, quantitative)
- Very good analytical and editorial skills as well as solid IT competencies
- Good sense of design and knowledge in the visual presentation of content (confident use of common tools advantageous)
- Quick comprehension and resilience as well as independent and efficient working style
Our offer:
As a university intern, you will work at the interface of police, population and administration and maintain contact with various contacts. You will be responsible for managing the risk management processes and thus develop application-oriented and sought-after skills in the field of risk management, both from an administrative and civil protection perspective. You will experience the implementation and further development of a risk management system up close and thus gain a comprehensive insight into the structures and processes of the cantonal administration as well as the police. More generally, the internship provides you with exciting insights into the police work of the largest police force in Switzerland.
Start date: From 1 November 2026 or by arrangement (limited to 12 months)
