Your tasks
Complete a higher education program lasting two years, including professional practice, with the goal of working as a police officer at the Cantonal Police of Fribourg. The main tasks are as follows:
- Prevent disturbances to public safety and order and intervene if necessary;
- Detect criminal acts, secure evidence, and identify perpetrators;
- Ensure the enforcement of administrative and court decisions when police intervention is required;
- Provide assistance in cases of serious danger or accidents;
- Prevent criminal offenses

Employing authority / administrative unit / institution
The Cantonal Police is subordinate to the Directorate of Security, Justice and Sports. Its mission is generally to ensure public safety, maintain order, and enforce laws.
It serves the population and authorities. For this, it carries out a large number of diverse and demanding tasks 24 hours a day, 365 days a year: emergency operations, crime detection, crime prevention, investigations, etc. The increasingly important role of the police in solving social problems requires tact and expertise from officers.
The Cantonal Police is also responsible for road traffic safety. It provides assistance to organizers of public events to ensure safety. It supports cantonal and municipal authorities in serious incidents.
The Cantonal Police consists of two main corps, the Gendarmerie and the Criminal Police, and three divisions: Command, Logistics and IT, HR and Training.
