About the job
Checkpoint Zurich is the health centre for queer people and one of the largest in Switzerland for HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and sexual health. We offer a comprehensive range of medical, psychological, and psychosocial services. In addition, we conduct campaigns and community work. Checkpoint Zurich is part of Arud, a non-profit organisation in the field of outpatient medical care, and is operated in cooperation with the Sexual Health Zurich Association.
Are you a specialist in psychiatry, committed and competent? Then we are looking for you!
Checkpoint Zurich is a non-profit organisation with a special focus on public health. With around 30 employees, it is one of the largest health centres in Switzerland for men who have sex with men, as well as trans people and other queer individuals. We offer comprehensive treatment in the fields of infectiology, general internal medicine, psychiatry, and psychotherapy. Our services cover prevention, counselling, testing, and treatment. In addition, various campaigns, mobile testing, and events are carried out. We accompany our clients respectfully and on an equal footing.
Your tasks:
- You take on psychiatric and psychotherapeutic assessment, counselling, and treatment of gay, queer, and trans people with complex issues with a great deal of personal responsibility and scope for design
- You work in a highly interdisciplinary team and actively contribute your professional perspective to the joint care
- You delegate purposefully and coordinate treatment closely with the psychology team
- You regularly participate in intervisions with the psychotherapists in the organisation
- You issue orders and cost approvals for our clients, in close cooperation with the psychology team
- You contribute to Checkpoint projects and help to further develop our services for the LGBTIQ+ community
What you bring:
- Completed specialist training in psychiatry and psychotherapy (FMH)
- Knowledge of the life realities of queer people and a closeness to the target group – whether through personal or professional experience – is desirable
- Strong team player qualities combined with the ability to independently and with high quality awareness handle responsible tasks even on busy days
- Openness and appreciation towards diverse life realities, sexual orientations, and gender identities
- Good communication skills, resilience, and flexibility in dealing with a demanding, diverse client base
- Enjoyment of direct client contact and working in an interdisciplinary, committed environment
- Foreign language skills are an advantage
What you can expect from us:
- You deepen your expertise in addiction medicine and actively shape the collaboration between psychiatry, psychotherapy, internal medicine, and social work.
- We offer you a regulated 45-hour week from Monday to Friday, without night or weekend shifts in ward operations, as well as 6 weeks of holiday and attractive conditions with the pension fund.
- We support you with further training and offer regular supervision and intervision.
- Look forward to an inspiring, collegial working atmosphere in a pioneering company of Swiss addiction medicine and become part of a committed team that supports you and achieves great things together with you.
