The University Library of Bern offers two training positions as Trainee Specialist in Information and Documentation EFZ starting August 2026.
Workload: 100%, including school days
Contract start: August 1, 2026, limited until July 31, 2029
University Library of Bern (UB)- We provide information resources for research, teaching, and study – electronically or on paper
- We assist with simple and complex (subject) research and impart information literacy
- We offer support and infrastructure for scientific publications, research, and project data
- We collect and digitize Bernese materials
- And we are here for everyone as a university and cantonal library
Tasks
During the three-year training period, the trainees receive training in the following areas:
- Selecting and managing media, data, and metadata (acquisition, cataloging, journal management)
- Providing and researching information (lending/customer service and interlibrary loan)
- Insights into various smaller activities and departments
Requirements
- Completed secondary school or intermediate school and a 10th school year
- Good general education
- Affinity for working with computers, print, and electronic media
- Quick comprehension
- Independent working style
- Organizational skills
- Interest in precise work
- Friendly, open demeanor when dealing with different stakeholders
- Good knowledge of French and English
- Mastery of the 10-finger system
