The Basel Zoo, affectionately called "Zolli", is a green oasis in the middle of the city. In its unique park landscape, it houses over 600 animal species from all continents. Scientifically managed, it creates closeness between humans and animals, protects endangered species, and promotes biodiversity. Your Tasks
You ensure the optimal care and supervision of the zoo animals and continually provide them with new enrichment opportunities. Maintenance and care of the stables and enclosures are also part of your daily duties. Guided tours with visitors and presenting animals and their lifestyles, as well as commenting on animal presentations, complete your area of activity in the animal sector. You also support our craft teams in various areas within the zoo and complete the shortened part-time training as an animal keeper EFZ.
What You Bring
You have completed an apprenticeship in a craft field (e.g. carpentry, butchery, agricultural machinery mechanics, electrical work, painting, masonry, plumbing, agriculture) and have gained several years of professional experience. You are a team player and possess good social skills. Even in hectic situations, you remain calm, work in a structured, very careful, and reliable manner. You are resilient, have a quick grasp, and are always interested in learning new things. You have very good German skills; knowledge of English and/or French is an advantage.
You regularly work on weekends. Thanks to long-term scheduling, your work assignments are known well in advance. Residence in the Basel region is highly desirable.
