The Hospital Network Appenzell Ausserrhoden with the Acute Hospital Herisau and the Psychiatric Centre AR in Herisau ensures extended basic medical care for the population in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and is also the first point of contact for a large part of the population in the surrounding region. Both locations are relevant for care within the canton and beyond.

We are looking for

In the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy under the direction of Dr Mirjana Vidakovic, Tanja Romano is seeking a Senior Physician for the Subacute Unit at the Herisau location from 1 January 2027.

Your tasks

• Ensuring acute psychiatric treatment and care of all patients in the assigned area, taking into account existing hospital guidelines and under professional supervision and oversight with high treatment quality
• Close cooperation with the nursing ward management regarding organisational matters and processes, and if necessary, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration with professionals and institutions involved in treatment
• Case-leading treatment of patients in individual, couple, and family settings including crisis interventions
• Continuous development of treatment offerings in cooperation with the responsible senior physician
• Leadership, training, and supervision of assistant doctors
• Participation in medical continuing education and training
• Participation in the senior medical on-call service

Your profile

• Swiss-recognised qualification or advanced training as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy
• Experience in inpatient acute psychiatry
• Committed and communicative personality with organisational skills
• An integrative leadership style completes your profile
