With more than 13,000 employees representing 160 professions, the Geneva University Hospitals are a nationally and internationally recognised institution. To learn more about our organisation, take a few minutes to discover the highlights and key figures of the year 2025 by clicking here .
With nearly 1,200 employees, the Acute Medicine Department (D-MA) includes the Anaesthesiology, Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, Intensive Care, and Emergency Services. It fulfils a fourfold mission through its services, which provide their expertise in frequent interaction with the entire Geneva University Hospitals, thanks to a cross-sectional platform, with the aim of ensuring the best possible care for patients.
Job Description
Under the supervision of the physiotherapist responsible for the Acute Medicine Department, you will join a team of 19 physiotherapists. Attached to the transversal unit of the DMA, the physiotherapy team provides care in various units of the department, with activities ranging from critical care to outpatient consultations for patient follow-up after hospitalisation.
Your adaptability and versatility enable you to ensure, in collaboration with your colleagues, 24/7 coverage of activities.
You conduct clinical assessments, develop and apply appropriate physiotherapy treatments, and then evaluate the results. You also ensure rigorous documentation of patient records, including interventions performed, clinical information, and recording of services provided.
You engage in an interprofessional working approach, collaborating closely with all healthcare professionals, and you intervene complementarily with other professionals according to your field of activity.
You contribute to training programmes related to your skills and activities and may also be involved in clinical research programmes.
You have a strong desire to share your knowledge and clinical practice with healthcare staff and physiotherapy trainees. Your pedagogical skills allow you to support students in their training journey and develop their skills at the heart of care through the supervisions you provide.
More broadly, physiotherapy activities at HUG include around 180 professionals working across 6 sectors. You will join a university hospital that is particularly committed to training, allowing you to develop both your technical and transversal skills in various care domains.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy or a physiotherapy diploma recognised and registered by the Swiss Red Cross, as well as a practice licence for the canton of Geneva.
Ideally, you have a certified specialisation in the physiotherapy sector of critical care. You keep your knowledge up to date through regular scientific reading and engage in an Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) approach.
You also have a good command of the French language, with a C1 level required for non-French speakers.
Comfort with IT tools (Office Suite) is necessary to successfully carry out this role. Proficiency with HUG applications, notably DPI, is a plus.
You are capable of working autonomously while demonstrating team spirit. This allows you to work flexibly within a team, relying on excellent communication skills and a desire to evolve your practices.
You have a sense of responsibility, strong organisational skills, and a good aptitude for multidisciplinary teamwork. Your good stress resistance is a real asset.
Additional Information
You will work irregular hours spread over the 7 days of the week. Weekend and public holiday on-call duties are to be expected within the HUG physiotherapy network.
