Biomedical Analysis Technician at the Oncogenomics Laboratory
The Central Haematology Laboratory (LCH) of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DMLP) is seeking a biomedical analysis technician for a permanent position at 80% - 100% starting 1st July or as agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.
The Oncogenomics Laboratory in the haematology service, accredited according to ISO 15189, is the largest Swiss oncological genomics laboratory and carries out diagnostic activities that guide patient management and contribute to therapeutic decisions.
Its activity is dedicated to the diagnostic analysis of haematological neoplasms using cytogenetic and molecular genetic methods. As a Swiss reference centre, the oncogenomics laboratory provides diagnostic services at the regional level (Canton of Vaud) and nationally (throughout Switzerland). It provides hereditary and somatic genetic diagnostic services using cutting-edge technologies.
Mission
- You receive and record oncogenomic analysis requests in a LIMS
- You perform cytogenetic and molecular preparations with the help of various automated systems (cell counting (Sysmex), cell culture, cell harvesting (HANABI P2P, cytogenetic slide preparation) (Cellwriter), DNA extraction (Qiagen), cell separation by magnetic beads (Robosep), high-throughput sequencing (Ion Torrent, Thermo Fisher), digital PCR (ddPCR Biorad))
- You analyse genomic data with various specialised bioinformatics pipelines for molecular genetic and/or cytogenetic data, according to laboratory procedures
- You control quality and interpret results
- You contribute to the general smooth running of the laboratory
- You participate in Saturday on-call duties.
Profile
- You hold a diploma as a biomedical analysis technician from the Higher School of Health (ESsanté) or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Swiss Red Cross
- You have experience in cytogenetic and/or molecular genetic analyses in a diagnostic onco-haematological context
- You demonstrate writing skills in French and technical knowledge in English
- You are comfortable with and interested in IT
- You show team spirit, dynamism, flexibility, discretion and can independently manage several tasks simultaneously
- Your versatility allows you to adapt to different techniques and analytical procedures
- You are conscientious and precise; quality of work is paramount to you and you are committed to achieving it.
