Co-Department Head Electrical/Electronics 100%The Electrical/Electronics department of the Technical Vocational School Zurich TBZ is the competence center for the training and further education of electrical and electronics professions. Around 1400 learners are taught in basic education, complemented by a further education program with about 130 students in courses preparing for professional exams, advanced professional exams, and certificate qualifications.
Your tasks
Due to retirement, we are looking for a personality for the Co-Department Head Electrical/Electronics starting in the spring semester 2027 or by arrangement. You will lead the department together with your co-leadership partner in true shared responsibility. The management of the department is not along strictly separated responsibilities but in close coordination and with jointly supported decisions across all essential areas. This includes in particular the personnel management and development of around 70 teachers, the planning and control of financial resources, ensuring reliable school operations, as well as the continuous further development of teaching and educational programs. In this role, you are a member of the extended school management and actively contribute to the further development of the entire school. You operate in an environment that requires both operational reliability and conceptual thinking and help to further develop the department and the TBZ as a whole. Your teaching obligation is 10 weekly lessons.
Your profile
We are looking for a strong leadership, integrative personality with pronounced communication skills and the ability to make clear decisions and take responsibility even in demanding situations. You have several years of teaching experience at the secondary level II as well as a completed university degree (FH, ETH, or university) in electrical engineering/electronics, a related field, or a teaching diploma ABU. The teaching diploma for vocational schools (EHB, PHZH, or an equivalent qualification) in a full-time position is mandatory.
Experience in leading employees and dealing with change processes is an advantage. Crucial is your ability to bundle different interests, develop viable solutions, and consistently implement them together with your counterpart in co-leadership. You think systemically, act reliably, and keep an overview even in complex situations.
