Eawag is the internationally networked water research institute of the ETH Domain (Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology). It conducts research, is involved in education, and operates in the field of specialised consulting. To strengthen the Eawag communication team, we are looking for a committed individual from 1 September 2026 or by arrangement as
In this versatile and responsible role, you will work at the interface between research and communication. You will prepare scientific content in an understandable, effective, and multimedia manner – with a particular focus on proactive and contemporary media work. In addition, you will support the communication department management in the strategic development of media work and actively contribute to the sustainable shaping of Eawag's external impact.

Your tasks
Proactive media work: conception, planning, editing, monitoring, further development
- Target group-oriented content creation (print/digital/multimedia) and channel-appropriate distribution to the media
- Development of media projects and specials in coordination with the department management
- Processing and coordination of media enquiries; acting as media spokesperson if required
- Writing and publishing media releases
- Planning and conducting media events
- Building and expanding a media network and active contact maintenance
- Monitoring and analysing media resonance
- Constant and proactive further development of the specialist area
- Implementation of the communication strategy and ensuring a consistent appearance in the area
- Advising and supporting the management and research departments in the media field
- Supporting the management and the communication department management in crisis communication and issue management
- Proactive exchange and coordination with the political affairs unit
- Collaboration with media representatives of the ETH Domain, related institutions, as well as external partners and agencies
- Creating scientific announcements, articles, and publications for Eawag's communication channels (external/internal, print/digital/multimedia)
- Advising Eawag staff on communication projects and measures
- Developing and implementing communication projects of the communication department
- Supporting projects of other team members and the department management in the area
Ideally, you bring the following profile
- a preferably scientific university degree as well as solid journalistic training or advanced professional training in communication
- several years of professional experience in media communication, ideally in the higher education sector or a public institution
- experience in dealing with media representatives
- excellent editorial skills and a high language competence for complex issues in the environmental field and environmental research
- experience in crisis communication is an advantage
- independent, structured, and reliable working style, very good organisational and conceptual skills, qualification and experience in project management
- strong team skills and high social competence, diplomacy, and assertiveness
- excellent German language skills, very good English skills, spoken French
