About the job
Roche Switzerland bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics. Important research and development functions are based here. For our long-standing client, Roche Diagnostics International AG in Rotkreuz, we are looking for a
Senior Embedded Instrument Control SW Tester
Background:
In our HW Integration team, we are the cornerstone of confidence. We don’t just test; we ensure that complex interactions between electronics, mechanics, firmware, and software result in a seamless and reliable product. As a Senior Embedded Instrument Control SW Tester, you will join an agile working environment of SW experts to bridge the gap between R&D and the final product. You will be the primary point of contact for complex issue analysis, helping us uncover weaknesses early and building diagnostic "hooks" directly into our design.
The perfect candidate possesses a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering and over five years of experience in testing within agile environments. Crucially, this experience should be focused on the intersection of software and hardware. The role requires proficiency with Linux and a solid background in test automation. Finally, fluency in English is mandatory.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Nurturing System Integrity: You will act as a guardian of our instrument’s quality, ensuring that the interplay between embedded software and hardware is seamless, robust, and reliable for our customers.
- Creative Test Evolution: Instead of just following a script, you will design and develop thoughtful test scenarios that explore the system's resilience, helping us identify and resolve potential weaknesses long before they reach the field.
- Transforming Data into Insight: You will listen to what the instruments are telling us by analyzing logs and results, turning raw data into meaningful improvements that enhance our diagnostic capabilities and long-term supportability.
- Collaborative Problem-Solving: You will own the journey of an issue from discovery to resolution, working closely with cross-functional teams to verify that our solutions are as elegant as they are effective.
- Bridge-Building across R&D: You will serve as a key technical partner between different development teams and production, using your deep system knowledge to provide clarity and support during complex troubleshooting phases.
- Empowered Ownership of Quality: You will take pride in delivering validated, high-quality work packages, ensuring a smooth and confident transition of designs to our global partners in Service and Operations.
Requirements:
- A degree (BSc/MSc) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering.
- Min. 5-7+ years of experience in testing in agile environments, specifically where software meets hardware.
- Proficient with Linux and have a strong foundation in test automation. While ISTQB certification is a plus, your ability to think systematically is what matters most.
- A curious investigator who enjoys learning how things work under the hood. You communicate with empathy and clarity, ensuring that technical findings lead to collaborative fixes.
- Fluency in English is required; German is a great advantage for local collaboration.
What We Offer:
- A chance to contribute to one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies.
- Modern campus with green spaces and meeting areas.
- Convenient location with highway and train station access nearby.
- Diverse role profile.
- Home office possibility.
- Training opportunities via temptraining.
- Collaboration in a dynamic and motivated team.
- Competitive compensation.
You are welcome to send your complete application documents to Mr. Severin Räfle.
