Social worker within the Addiction Medicine Service
The Addiction Medicine Service (SMA) of the Department of Psychiatry is seeking a social worker at a workload of 80% to 100% for its Outpatient Consultation Unit of Northern Vaud (UCAN) in Yverdon-les-Bains. This position is offered as a fixed-term contract of 4 months, as a maternity leave replacement, starting 1 December 2026 or as agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.
The Addiction Medicine Service (SMA) offers inpatient and outpatient treatments. Addiction is a complex issue involving biological, psychological and social factors. Appropriate care takes all these dimensions into account and follows a bio-psycho-social approach.
The Addiction Medicine Service also conducts training and research activities. The Outpatient Consultation Unit of Northern Vaud (UCAN) offers a multidisciplinary approach to the management of addictive disorders, with or without substances.
Mission
- You provide support, psychosocial assessment and case management follow-up for patients with addiction issues associated with psychiatric disorders, within outpatient and inpatient services
- You identify patients’ needs, inform and support them and their relatives in administrative, professional, legal and relational procedures, in collaboration with the various professionals involved in their care
- Within outpatient activities, you assist patients with social procedures, notably during dedicated sessions for budget management, administrative questions, advice and guidance, to promote stabilisation of their life situation
- You carry out procedures related to patients’ housing projects
- You ensure liaison interventions between the hospital and outpatient units of the Service.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor of Arts HES-SO in Social Work or an equivalent qualification; for foreign diplomas, SEFRI recognition is mandatory
- You have a strong interest in the field of addictions and mental health
- You have good knowledge of social insurance
- You are familiar with Vaud medico-social institutions, administrative and legal structures, housing facilities as well as associated platforms (CCICP and DCISA)
- You demonstrate autonomy, creativity and initiative
- You have good interpersonal and communication skills and appreciate interdisciplinary work
- You possess a spirit of mutual aid and collaboration and show openness and flexibility
- You hold a driving licence.
Depending on profile, the candidate’s salary class will be between level 8 and level 9.
