About the job
Supervisor / Caregiver 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and employs around 1,400 women and men from diverse professions. JuWe primarily is responsible for the enforcement of court sentences and the execution of pre-trial detention. For JuWe employees, preventing recidivism and the successful social reintegration of offenders is of particular importance.
As part of the Zurich Remand Prisons (UGZ), Zurich West Prison (GZW) is located in the Police and Justice Centre Zurich and has 241 detention places. It specialises in provisional detention and pre-trial custody and plays a central role in the admission and initial care of incarcerated persons.

Are you empathetic and enjoy working in direct contact with people from diverse backgrounds? Then we look forward to getting to know you.
Since the role regularly involves body searches of men, we can only consider applications from male candidates for this position.
This is your area of responsibility

- You work closely with the interdisciplinary care team and jointly develop sustainable solutions for care
- Written documentation and reporting are part of your daily routine, as is communicating the house rules and enforcing applicable regulations
What you bring with you
- You engage with people in a coercive context professionally and appreciatively, consciously regulate closeness and distance, and act prudently and proactively in crisis situations. You bring great enthusiasm for your new work environment and actively participate in developing and shaping the detention conditions in pre-trial custody
- You are mentally resilient and flexible working hours (shift, weekend, and public holiday duties) are compatible with your other commitments
- Federal VET diploma (EFZ), (specialised) Matura, specialised middle school certificate or equivalent qualification, as well as several years of general professional experience – ideally in a comparable role
- You are at least 25 years old and have no entries in the criminal or debt register
- Further training as a specialist in correctional services is an advantage
- You have very good German language skills, both spoken and written; oral foreign language skills are a plus
- You have MS Office user skills and are confident with digital tools

- You can expect a well-thought-out induction and a large range of job-related training and further education in theory and practice
- A lunch voucher card and an excellent staff restaurant
