As part of a major deep geothermal drilling project in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, IOTA is seeking several experienced drilling professionals to strengthen the teams involved in this campaign.
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Drilling Supervisor to participate in a deep geothermal drilling campaign in Switzerland.
Operations will be carried out on a light drilling rig – Super Light Rig – equipped with an MPD (Managed Pressure Drilling) system.
The site will operate 24/7, with 12-hour shifts on a 3x3 rotation.
Technical training and project familiarisation of one to two weeks are planned in Switzerland in December 2026, before operational start-up scheduled for January 2027.
In your role, you will be responsible for:
- Promoting and maintaining a strong HSE culture across all site activities.
- Ensuring compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and operational procedures.
- Supervising and coordinating contractors, service providers, and field teams.
- Monitoring daily drilling operations and ensuring their proper execution.
- Identifying operational issues, analysing risks, and implementing necessary corrective actions.
- Participating in the execution of the drilling programme.
- Tracking the performance of contractors and various project stakeholders.
- Ensuring effective communication between different technical and operational teams.
- Contributing to risk management, unforeseen situations, and contingency plans.
Qualifications
We are seeking a seasoned professional with solid experience in onshore drilling operations.
Required experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Oil & Gas Onshore drilling operations or deep geothermal drilling.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in continental Europe.
- Significant experience in supervising drilling operations.
- Experience in international, multicultural, and multidisciplinary environments.
- Experience with MPD – Managed Pressure Drilling operations is a distinct advantage.
Expected skills:
- Proven leadership and ability to manage operational teams.
- Excellent communication with field teams, contractors, and service providers.
- Strong skills in risk management and contingency management.
- Strong HSE / operational safety culture.
- Ability to work in a demanding operational environment running 24/7.
- Advanced professional English is essential.
Required / expected certifications:
- IWCF Level 4
- OPITO H2S
- MIST or BOSIET
- Valid OEUK medical certificate
