The Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a litre is always a litre (e.g. when refuelling), METAS carries out calibrations, conformity assessments and consultations for business, research and administration. Measurement accuracy creates trust, especially at societal and political levels, and is essential in many areas: road traffic, electricity billing, time transmission, measurements in environmental and health sectors, etc. At METAS, various disciplines come together and complement each other – and this has been the case since 1862.
Your new challenge
- Leading the internal unit in all matters relating to national and international metrology law and ensuring legal advice, especially in administrative, contract and procedural law
- Editing and reviewing contracts and drafting legal opinions and reports, particularly for the management
- Managing the Legal Department with two employees in professional, financial, personnel and organisational respects
- Leading legislative projects in the field of metrology and shaping the further development of the legal framework, supporting responses within the framework of office consultations
- Conducting proceedings and preparing orders and submissions to courts
Your profile
- University degree in law, additional qualifications such as a lawyer's licence, doctorate or foreign degree (e.g. LL.M.) are advantageous
- You have at least 10 years of professional experience in courts, administration or legal practice. Sound knowledge of the legal processes of the federal administration and proven expertise in public law, experience in legislation and cooperation with authorities at home and abroad
- You bring leadership, communication and negotiation skills as well as teamwork, diplomatic tact and political acumen. You are solution- and results-oriented, with interconnected, conceptual thinking and enjoy interdisciplinary collaboration. Resilience and composure even under deadline pressure complete your profile
- You have excellent editorial skills in at least one official language, good active knowledge of a second official language and English, and if possible at least passive knowledge of the third official language
- You are responsible, pragmatic and service-oriented
